brief description of Dhekiabari tea garden.
Ans: Dhekiabari tea garden was an hour away from
Mariani railway station. On both the sides of the gravel road were acre upon
acre of tea bushes all neatly pruned to the same height. There were groups of
tea pluckers with bamboo baskets on their backs, wearing plastic aprons
plucking the newly sprouted leaves.
2. Give a description of the magnificent view of tea
garden seen by Rajvir from the railway train.
Ans: The view had the backdrop of densely wooded
hills a sea of tea bushes stretched far away where eyes could not finish
seeing. There were dwarfing tiny tea plants, tall sturdy shade- trees and
orderly rows of bushes busily moved doll like figures.

Ans: The
legends story goes like:
There was a
Chinese emperor who always boiled water before drinking it. One day a few leaves
of the twigs burning under the pot fell into the water and gave a delicious
flavour. They believed those leaves were Tea leaves. Another legend from India
name Bodhidharma, an ancient Buddhist ascetic, cut off his eyelids because he
felt sleepy during meditations. It is believed that ten tea plants grew out of
the eyelids. The leaves of these plants when put in hot water and drank
banished sleep.

Ans- Tea was
first drunk in China. Rajvir said that far back around 2700 B.C. words such as
tea, chai, chini are from Chinese and tea came to Europe in 16th
century and was drunk more as medicine than as beverage.

Ans-The
magnificent view of the tea gardens excited Rajvir. Rajvir was from Delhi and
he had never seen so much greenery before, the soft green paddy fields that
gave way to tea bushes.

grown up on the midst of tea gardens. As his father was the manager of the Dhekiabari
Tea Estate. So Pranjol did not share the same excitement which Rajvir was
felling.

Ans- Assam
is famous for its tea. It is known as the ‘tea country ‘as it has the largest
concentration of plantations in the world. In Assam a group of tea pluckers
very carefully plucks tea leaves and collect the leaves in a bamboo basket.
They wear plastic aprons and pluck newly sprouted tea leaves from the tea
bushes. Assam contributes almost 15.6 % to the world’s tea production. It also
has the largest tea forms and almost
contributes 55% to the total tea production in India.
