Class 11/ The summer of the Beautiful white horse

The summer of the Beautiful White horse.

1. Did the boys return the horse because they were conscience - stricken or because they were afraid?

Ans- The  boys returned the horse because they were conscience - stricken and not because they were afraid. Mourad and Aram belonged to the Garoghlanian family which was famous  for its integrity and honesty. Due to their passion for riding and fun once they bought the beautiful  white horse from John Byro.

2. Who stole the beautiful white horse and why?

Ans- The beautiful white horse was stolen by Mourad.
He stole the horse because it was his and his brother Aram's first longing to ride a horse. But they couldn't afford a horse because their whole tribe was poverty stricken. So in order to fulfil their wish they slote the beautiful white horse.

3. What was the author’s reaction when he saw his cousin Mourad sitting on a beautiful  white horse?

Ans- The author was shocked when he saw his cousin Mourad sitting on a beautiful white horse. He could not believe his eyes. He rubbed his eyes to make sure that he wasn't dreaming. In the first phase Aram was very happy to see the horse right infront of his eyes, and in the second phase he couldn't believe how Mourad could afford a horse inspite of being so very poor.

4. Why did the narrator believe that stealing a horse for a ride was not the same thing as stealing money?

Ans- By uttering this statement the author tries to justify the action of his cousin Mourad.
According to the author, stealing a horse just for a ride as Mourad did was not the same as stealing money. It would amount to stealing in real sense only if he would intend to sell the horse for money.

5. Why did the narrator insists on keeping the stolen horse for a year. Why did Mourad oppose the idea.

Ans- The narration insists on keeping the stolen horse for a year because he wanted to be a good horse rider like his cousin Mourad.
But Mourad opposed his idea and denied to keep the stolen horse for a year because he didn't want to loose their Garoghlanian family's honour and integrity and he didn't  want that any member of their family to be accused of stealing or called as a liar or theif or defaming the family.
