A dreadful accident took place at Lanka Shillong Road in Lanka on 31st December 2022 at about 5 pm in the evening. The serious situation occurred when a bus collided hard to a truck. Both the vehicles were at a minimum high speed and while talking a sharp turn they collided with each other. Careless driving was the main reason for the accident. Both the Bus and the Truck had heavy loss. The drivers were dead on the spot  while many passengers were injured. Local people rushed to the spot and also helped to rescue people. Four Passengers died while 15 passengers were admitted to the nearby hospital. Immediate steps were taken by the authorized concerned toward medical relief to the victims.

June 5, 2022, Lanka. Our school celebrated cleanliness week and organized a number of program cum competition in the school campus. It was wonderful to see the students and teachers response and active participation in the cleanliness program. Students learned a lot about the proper way to recycle wastes. Various competition like Dance, Song and Drama and Painting competition were organized to encourage the students. The drama that were performed by the students of class VIII and IX were excellent. They gave a beautiful message to conservation and Save Nature. Special Guest Jadav Payeng was invited to encourage the students. A student of class XI won the first price in dance competition where the theme was “Keep our Earth Clean” for healthy living. Everyone enjoyed the performance.  All the students were really encouraged by the positive feedback from the guest. Our principal sir had decided that such initiatives would be taken by our school more frequently to motivate the students and spread awareness about cleanliness.

Flood situation is a common problem in Assam. Many villages of Assam suffer from this natural disaster every year. On my visit to Dhemaji District, I have seen that people has gone through touch time because of flood on and before 1st August 2022. About 10,000 houses were underwater, more than hundred people lost their lives, animals dead bodies were floating in the water. Government has opened around 200 temporary camps beside lodging the flood hit, homeless people, trying their best to help and support the flood affected people of the district. People had been provided with food packets, water, and cloths. Doctors are working hard and health workers of different sections are trying to spreads measures to prevent water borne diseases.  Government has announced to pay a sum of 1 lakh to the families as compensation.

On June 5, 2022 at Sunrise Academy Guwahati World Environment Day was celebrated with great fun and enthusiasm. The main aim to celebrate the world environment day was to spread awareness about the need and importance to protect the environment. Our school made a short distance rally with postures and photograph to spread awareness to save our environment. 20 quick growing trees which do not need much water on daily basis were planted at the school and outside the school. An eminent person Jadav Payeng was invited to light up the occasion. He also judged our posters and photographs and gave his positive feedback to the students. Elder students of class XII showed presentations on the threat to the environment. At last out special guest ended up with his valuable words where he focused on how humans are the worst enemy of the environment and how human can also turn everything into best. The event was a great success and certainly we made a difference to the way of looking our environment.
